Today's Project !

Here is a great chest that I bought last week.  It was a flat black, so I knew it wouldn't be easy to "shabby" it for a much softer look.
It actually went really well........thought about keeping it....but it's going to the antique mall.

So....after a couple coats of paint and a little "distressing" with my new sander....here's the result.
Love the distressed look!

Two Days till Canton !!

Been working like crazy getting ready for Canton.  We will leave Wed. morning to set up for the weekend.  Typically Wed. and Thursdays are "dealer" days.  Most of the shoppers are dealers looking for great buys to resell in their shops....or even to resale in their booths in Canton!
I have to say it's a blast to search early on Wed. for some great deals.....

The weather looks good for the weekend, so we're hoping for a great crowd.

December in Canton!

Getting ready for Canton in December!  First Monday Trade Days  always falls on the weekend before the "First Monday" of the month.  If you've never experienced "Canton"....it must be on your bucket list.  Whether you are just a curious shopper, or an avid "picker".....this is the place to go for deals and unique finds.    For more info.....just google Canton Trade Days and there are several options for all sorts of info.

We had considered a website....actually tried a website and needless to say, it was way too much trouble for me to keep up with.  I wanted something that could let me post ideas and connect with other who were doing the same, but wasnt interested in all the work and organization that a website required.
So.....I decided to blog.  Hope to keep up with some great ideas.....some great shops that I have found in the last few months....from Texas to Oklahoma to St. Louis.....lots of little places in Arkansas that I have found on my way back to Texas.
I've met some great people at Canton Trade days from all over the country and some crazy "fun" ones from Lindell TX....who have made this so much fun and a heck of a lot better than teaching high school which I use to do before moving to Texas.

Thank God I am now "pickin" and not teaching!!

Look for us at Canton Trade Days in the outdoor "unreserved"  row 99/ #66 & 67.....at Mckinney Antique Co. Mall in Mckinney Texas and Plano Antique Mall in Plano Texas.

I know some great "out of the way" places for great deals in Missouri, so if you're in that area.....let me know and I can point you in that direction.

Hope to find some yard sales tomorrow..!!!   Seems like that is a great place to get some great deals!!

This Weeks Projects!!

Here is my next project for this week.  LOVE the old vintage windows.  I've been making chalkboards and memo boards with chicken wire....but thinking of using these for a small greenhouse.  Saw a beautiful example on a site where they used an old end table for the base.....will post if it comes out nice....if not, they will be chalkboards!  :)
Here is a great wood table I bought to refinish.  These are my favorite projects.....
somehow I always end up with lots of tables!
On Sundays in Canton, we always search the grounds for the "last minute" deals!  Lots of people are ready to leave and willing to make great deals on some cool treasures!  Love these two old primitive farm tables.....not sure where they will end up.....either Mckinney Antique Mall or Plano Mall....would love to keep them but no room at home!
